When: September 20 & 21, 2025

Location: Wild Horse Mountain Farms - Sherwood, OR

Your biggest task during this gathering is to find your way into two different communities - a herd of horses AND a group of other men.

What to expect:

Day 1 (Half Day): Enter the Herd

We’ll start with the horses. You’ll enter into a pre-established community with its own norms, power dynamics, rhythms and flow. As you enter the herd, there's a lot you'll have to sense, learn, and synthesize quickly.

What you'll confront:

  • What it feels like to enter a community as an outsider.
  • The strategies you use to navigate the unknown.
  • Belonging through the eyes of a horse.

Day 2 (Full Day): Find Where You Belong

We'll take the learning deeper by broadening your relationships with the other men. You'll participate in individual and group exercises with the horses that will ask you to show up, be seen, play, and collaborate with the other men.

What you'll confront:

  • Who you believe you should be vs. who you actually are.
  • The vulnerability of expressing your truth.
  • Seeing and being seen by other men.
  • Struggle, conflict, play, success, failure, and everything else that comes with collaboration.
  • Belonging in a community of men.

What this gathering WILL do:

  • Help you create strategies to understand and respond to your emotions.
  • Improve the quality of your relationships.
  • Help you better navigate conflict.
  • Give you the freedom to define who you are, who you want to be, and your version of manhood.
  • Offer you both the challenge and support you need to grow as a man.

Why are horses involved?

There's just nothing better than the clear and non-judgmental feedback of a 1000lb animal to help you explore the gap between where you are and where you'd like to be in your life. They offer experiential, embodied, and relational learning that will only amplify your growth as a man.

*All exercises are done on the ground and there will be no riding at this event. No horse experience is necessary.

What will you do with the horses?
You will enter into a relationship with a being that doesn’t speak the same language as you do. While humans often rely on verbal language and relating through concepts, horses rely on physical language and feel. Without the typical control mechanisms used with horses (halters, bridles, saddles, etc.), I’ll ask you to get present to the relationship itself.
As you begin to relate to the horse— whether that’s standing close together, needing more space, or moving together — the horse offers feedback. And because the horse is simply responding to what it feels, rather than telling itself a story about what it feels, the feedback will be honest, direct, and non-judgmental. And in this feedback, you will get a window into your impact on the relationship. If something isn’t working, we'll explore what that means to you and what else you might try. And when you make a shift, so will the horse. This right here is a doorway into the deeper exploration of how you show up for yourself and in the world.
